Attack TheatreFounded in 1994 as a collaboration between two dancers and a city, Attack Theatre fuses modern dance, original live music, and interdisciplinary art forms to create engaging dance performances. We create work at the intersection of art and community, resulting in productions that are personal, authentic, welcoming, and fearless.
Under the artistic direction of Peter Kope and Michele de la Reza, Attack Theatre is celebrating its 25th season. Combining contemporary dance, live music, and multimedia to create “delicious moments of intimacy” (Le Dauphine Vaucluse-Matin, France), the company has produced over 150 original works in theatrical and site specific settings. They have choreographed and performed for symphonies, theater companies, art museums, and for the Broadway production of Squonk. STAYCEE PEARL dance project & Soy SosSTAYCEE PEARL dance project & Soy Sos (SPdp&SS) exists to interpret and mirror culture and community through dance and dance centered multi-media experiences. With diverse casting and programming, SPdp&SS explores innovative conceptual possibilities while participating in meaningful collaboration. Under the leadership of Choreographer Staycee Pearl and Sound Designer Herman 'Soy Sos' Pearl, SPdp&SS produces programming around compelling concepts and themes often inspired by social/political world issues.

DANA Movement EnsembleThe DANA Movement Ensemble ( acronym Dancers Against Normal Actions) is the brainchild of Nick M. Daniels. In 1990, The DANA Movement Ensemble hit the Pittsburgh dance scene with what is now their signature thought provoking, emotion driven, socially relevant, multi-disciplinary movement based performance works. As stated by Jane Vranish in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette “They walk a tightrope between fantasy and reality”. After a 20+ year hiatus, They jumped right back on that tightrope in 2016. From festivals in Boston and Italy to self produced concerts in their hometown, It doesn’t seem like the tightrope walk is ending anytime soon.

Bodiography Contemporary Ballet and La Roche University Dance DepartmentOriginally conceived as a performance outlet for exquisite ballet dancers with healthy, athletic, but non-stereotypical ballet bodies, Bodiography Contemporary Ballet strives to bring the beauty of ballet to new dance audiences in Pittsburgh and beyond. Presenting Maria Caruso's multi-genre movement vocabulary and popular contemporary music, Bodiography places special focus on health issues, expressing our shared humanity through intriguing, entertaining, relevant, and inspiring dance with a strong foundation in classical ballet technique.
La Roche University Dance Department is a ballet-based program that prepares students for a creative workforce through extensive technical training, historical knowledge and an enriched artistic awareness. The program allows you to grow as a performer, train with professional choreographers and master various genres. slowdangeranna thompson and taylor knight, are co-founders of performance entity, slowdanger. slowdanger fuses sound and movement through improvised contemporary and postmodern dance frameworks using found material, electronic instrumentation, vocalization, and ontological examination to engage in collaborative work. Performers manifest as a non-binary entity that is one body amassed of multiple bodies in space. Within this system, they work with an engaged and deepened understanding of energy, synergy, action, gender, time, and storytelling. slowdanger aims to bring disparate points, people and disciplines together to interface and innovate.
slowdanger has been featured at/in Dance Magazine’s ‘ 25 to Watch’, The MoMA, Springboard Danse Montreal, The Andy Warhol Museum, Usine C, Dance Place and more. slowdanger has received support from The Foundation for Contemporary Arts, The Heinz Endowments, The Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, The Pittsburgh Foundation, The Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council and The Opportunity Fund. MURRdanceMURRdance is a project-based contemporary dance company led by Pittsburgh-based dance artist and educator Heidi Murr. Founded in 2017, the company made its performance debut in ASCENDANCE at the New Hazlett Theater. Since, they have performed at Cedar Crest College (Allentown, PA), The Edge Theatre (Chicago), Dogtown Dance Theatre (RVA), Xtaza Nightclub (Pittsburgh), and most recently presented new work in the Columbus Arts Festival.
