A-PART (2009)

A-PART (2009)

Presented at Laban, London
June 2009

The material from A-Part was taken from two events that occurred prior to the final performance.  Studies of intimate connections were carried out in the studio exploring verbal and non-verbal communication.  During the process, dancers explored ways of creating bonds with audience members in a one on one performance atmosphere. Explorations revolved around touch and dancing with the solo audience and how each can create bonds between them

After studying these reactions in the studio, a one to one performance took audience members through three separate stages of involvement. What happened in that performance, only the performers were a part of. Both performers and audience were asked to write a letter to each other at the end of the experience. The letters are what you are privy to as the outside eye, wondering what was the interaction in the performance, allowing their intimate exchange to stand alone, but hearing the words they put to paper for each other.

Performers:  Ben Laing and Laura Blazy

Dancers:  Hannah Chadwick and Anna Axiotis

Letters written by Anonymous Audience Members taken from previous private performances
